DoFPS Director awarded “Stakeholder Engagement Award” by RCSC

Hon’ble Director, DoFPS with recipients of awards at the closing ceremony of NLP

The Hon’ble Director, Department of Forests and Park Services was today awarded the “Stakeholder Engagement Award” by Royal Civil Service Commission at the NLP concluding event held at Centre for Bhutan and GNH Studies, Thimphu.

He was recognized for his excellent participatory leadership skills, team building, performance accountability, problem solving and decision making.
The one-year “Nurturing Leadership Programme” was launched on October 19, 2021 by the Royal Civil Service Commission in partnering with the Ulrich Allen Leadership Capital, and attended by 125 Executives and School Principals.
The concluding events included Projects Exhibition and Gallery Walk, followed by awarding of certificates and awards.
The “Stakeholder Engagement Award” was particularly in recognition for diligent stakeholder engagement during the achievement of the Project “Enhancing Sustainable Utilization and Conservation of Forest Resources. The Department through this project was able to achieve the following in three and half months:
1. Reach out to more than 24005 people through extensive awareness and educational programs.
2. Strengthen good governance in Community Forest and Non-wood Forest Produce through capacity building of 2348 local communities.
3. Institutionalize Gewog Tiger Conservation Tshogpa Scheme in six Gewogs.
4. Strengthen and operationalize Online Forestry Service (14) to reduce Turn Around Time (TAT).
The achievement of these results has greatly increased the stakeholder satisfaction, with 97.87% of the stakeholder agreeing that the project has improved the situation in the achievement of four project goals.
The Hon’ble Director expressed his gratitude to his Project Sponsor, Dasho Thinlay Namgyel, Justin and his team, Project Management Team, RCSC, his PR, the five-star team, Chief Forestry Officers and other colleagues from all the functional divisions and field offices, who have supported him throughout and beyond the implementation of the project.
“I am a leader because of my team. I recognized that I alone cannot take the Department forward, but team work with clear delegation of responsibilities along with sharing of accountability is key to the success of my department’s contribution for moving towards developed Bhutan” said Mr. Lobzang Dorji, Director, DoFPS.
Given the importance and the success of the activities implemented through the NLP, the Director also shared plans to mainstream these activities in the annual work plan and advocate the use of the toolkits of the NLP program to all the field offices.
