The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MoENR) has legalized high-end recreational fishing for Golden mahseer for exclusive catch and immediate release vide amended Forests and Nature Conservation Rules and Regulations (FNCRR) 2022. However, for the foreigners to fish in the rivers of Bhutan, a certified fishing guide is required.
Therefore, to put in place a pool of fishing guides, the Department of Forests and Park Services (DoFPS) is planning to organize a professional “Fishing Guide” training from 14th to 16th June, 2023 at Thimphu. We are providing 20 slots, and a proper selection criteria will be used to provide the training to the right people. Therefore local anglers who are very keen to lead fishing trips are invited to register for the training.
